The main responsibilities and duties of food engineers are to design and to produce healthy, safe and high quality food products during all stages from farm to fork, to ensure packaging and storage of foods, to conduct necessary quality control tests, and to perform scientific and applied research.

Graduates of the Food Engineering Department can find job opportunities in public sectors including TUBITAK, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Turkish Standards Institute, State Planning Organization, and municipalities, in universities and moreover, they can find job opportunities in private sector which produce food and food contact materials as engineers and researchers in production, research and development, marketing, import-export, quality control and quality assurance departments.
