Translation and Interpreting Studies in Arabic was founded, as the first of its kind in Turkey, in the 2009-2010 academic year under The Department of Translation and Interpreting Studies.

There has been a great gap in the current systematic translation practices between Arabic and Turkish languages as a result of developing commercial exchanges of our country with Arab countries, unstable situation in the Middle Eastern area, the policies of important agents shaped by the presence of oil reserves, the expectations of the countries in the region from Turkey as a regional power and because of other economic, political, cultural and strategic reasons. The aim of the Department of Translation and Interpreting Studies in Arabic is to train translators and interpreters with professional knowledge and skills to be able to satisfy the needs of translation in the abovementioned areas.
