Okan University’s Department of Computer Engineering first opened its doors to students in the 2005-2006 academic year. Our department, with its faculty of qualified and experienced academics, has specially designed its curriculum in collaboration with a panel of information system experts, to meet the requirements of today’s world. Our curriculum ensures that students are kept abreast of the latest developments in the field and prepares them for professional life.
Not only in Turkey but throughout the world, the need for qualified computer engineers continues, and we know that computer-based technologies are what bring the process of globalization to life. In this process, it is essential not only to acquire sound technical knowledge, but to learn foreign languages as well. Therefore, our students are encouraged to learn a second foreign language in addition to English, so that when they graduate from Okan, they will be that much better equipped to work as computer professionals anywhere in the world, and to interact with the world.
Since the 2005-2006 academic year, the Computer Engineering Department has been offering classes at Okan University’s Akfırat Campus, where students can benefit from state-of-the-art technology and computer laboratories and learn from a growing faculty body comprised of leading academics.
I believe that successful careers await the graduates of Istanbul Okan University’s Computer Engineering Department, so long as they have the determination and will to pursue them. Our graduates will most certainly play an important role in meeting the needs of Information Systems both today and tomorrow, and I wish all of them the best of luck in their endeavors to that end.
