Constitutional Law (HUK135)
This course designed to prepare students to progress in Constitutional Law. The emphasis of this course will be on the thoughts of constitutions through the Ottoman to Republic of Turkey. Through chapters and readings, we will discuss issues related to constitutional developments in Ottoman and Republic of Turkey. Furthermore, the function and operations of legislation, the function and operations of execution, election system in Turkey, the constituton of the execu-tive power and the president, function and essence of the juridicy will be treated in this course. During the lectures, students will be discussing the topics and developing their abilities to link past doctrines to modern times constitutional law terms.
Civil Law (HUK 137)
After an in-depth analysis of the introductory provisions of the Civil Code, including the concepts of rights and sources of law, the course will focus on the law of persons and in particular the meaning of the term “personality”, protection of personality, domicile, names, natural persons, associations, foundations and other organisms which have legal personality. This course covers topics such as engagement, marriage, divorce, matrimonial property law, custody and guardianship.
Roman Law (HUK137)
This courseinitially examines the development of Roman Law throughout the history and its importance. Subsequently, the general characteristics and the fundamental conceptions of Roman Law, the concept and kinds of law, subjective rights of Actio and Exceptio , the concept of prescription, juristic acts and contracts, specific formal transactions are reviewed. Within the course Roman Procedural Law with its effect on Turkish civil law, on the Turkish Code of Obligations and on other countries’ laws as well and Roman Property Law with its effect on the law of today are investigated.
Introduction to Law and Legal Methodology (HUK126)
The objective of this course is to introduce students to the fundamental rules, institutions, and concepts that form the basis of modern legal systems. The course adopts a comparative approach by examining law in relation to other social norms. While the primary focus is on the Turkish legal system, the analysis also draws upon elements influenced by Continental European law. The course is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles of legal methodology. The curriculum encompasses an exploration of the sources and branches of law, an examination of the judicial process, and a thorough exploration of significant legal issues such as validity, conflicts of norms, interpretation, and gaps in the law. Throughout the course, particular emphasis will be placed on developing methodological skills and critical thinking, which are essential for legal reasoning.

This course is concerned primarily of identification of subfields of Public International Law and explanation of its general concepts. This course will focus on the general principles covering law of obligations, namely the formation of contracts, offer and acceptance, capacity, material and immaterial mistake, fraud, duress, legal cause, contractual obligation, freedom of contract, limitations of the freedom of contract, public order and mandatory provisions, concept of debt, obligations of special nature, assignment of claims and assumption of obligations, impossibility, and termination of contracts. This course will focus on the law of responsibility, including torts and unjust enrichment, as well as an in-depth analysis of various doctrines of torts, liabilities, negligence, causal relationship, objective liability, unjust enrichment. Main purpose of this lesson is to analyze the dilemma between state and society and to explain general concepts of state to students. In this course, sources of rights and liberties are examined thoroughly in relationship with the theories of state. Important documents such as Magna Carta, Declaration of the Rights of Men, the first Constitution of Ottoman Empire are evaluated regarding its historical causes and effects. In this course, the definition of gender equality and the purpose of this struggle are examined in the world from the beginning of modern society to the present day. In this context, the struggles for rights in Turkey, the concepts of justice and equality, the public and private sphere and the discussion of rights are examined within the scope of feminist legal theory. In addition, the decisive concepts, discussions and regulations in the fight against gender-based violence, which is an important step in achieving gender equality, are examined in the second part of the course.

This course introduces students to the fundamental procedural and substantive concepts of administrative adjudication. Annulment actions and full remedy actions are examined separately in terms of their prerequisites and merits. The common aspects of both types of cases are explained in detail through practical exercises and real judicial decisions. The purpose of this course is to explain and analyze legal disputes, legal dispute resolution and procedureal rules at courts. Course content is general information about the law of civil procedure, judicial organization, the courts, the dominant principles of civil procedural law, opening the case, theory of party to legal proceedings and the general information about the cases. The purpose of this course is to explain and analyze legal disputes, legal dispute resolution and procedureal rules applicable at the courts. The course will focus on the protection of human rights under the Council of Europe. In this context, the mechanisms established for the protection of human rights by the Council of Europe, the content of the European Convention on Human Rights and the current case law regarding the implementation of the convention by the European Court of Human Rights will be examined, and individual application to the ECtHR will be examined in terms of procedure and content.

The judicial resolution mechanisms of disputes arising in the field of taxation are the tax jurisdiction within the administrative jurisdiction. Tax jurisdiction law includes tax disputes, types of cases, proceedings, types of decisions and remedies.
Health Law (HUK337)
Health Law is an interdisciplinary field regulated by international and national legislation. In this respect, it also benefits from the basic knowledge of the Law of Obligations, Law of Responsibility, Criminal Law and Administrative Law. In terms of the responsibility of hospitals, physicians and other health workers, first of all, legal medical interventions and conditions will be emphasized. Responsibilities of health workers and private health institutions and organizations will be discussed in the courses. Patient rights and drug law are also directly related to the field of health law. Lawsuits filed under these main titles, litigation processes and alternative solutions in health law (conciliation, arbitration, mediation and med-arb) will also form the content of the course.
Private International Law (HUK441)
A comparative analysis of contemporary legislation on citizenship will be made with an in depth study of Turkish law of citizenship. Rights and obligations of citizens, how to acquire Turkish citizenship, effect of marriage on citizenship, double nationality, procedure for obtaining citizenship, status of heimatloss (apatride) persons, The second party of the course deals with the status, rights and obligations of foreigners in Turkey. Foreign persons, individuals or legal entities(associations, foundations, commercial enterprises, corporations etc) their legal capacity to acquire immovable property, registration with the Ministry of Interior Department of Foreigners, visa requirements, right to work and related questions. The primary subject to be addressed in this course is Choice of Law. Controversies involving parties, events and issues originating in more than one State require making a choice from various substantive and procedural laws to govern the decision-making process. Choice of Law draws upon Family Law, Law of Torts, Law of Property, Law of Inheritance, and Company Law for its context. The course also covers some aspects of the recognition of foreign judgments.
Execution and Bankruptcy Law (HUK442)
The purpose of the course is to study and evaluate the general debt enforcement proceeding as a whole. The content of this course is general knowledge about enforcement law, types of foreclosure, enforcement agency, charges and expenses of enforcement followed by general lien, case of cancellation of objection, removal of the objection, negative clearance and restitution cases. Purpose of the Course is to study and to evaluate the special debt enforcement proceedings, bankruptcy law, concordate and modern liquidation and reorganization systems and methods for individuals, entreprises and cooperatives, annulment actions as a whole. Course content is to follow through foreclosures for negotiable instruments, evacuation of leased immovable property, postponing enforcement, composition with creditors, reorganization, bankruptcy law, concordate, capital companies, restructuring, case of cancellation of possesion.
Labour Law I (HUK443)
This course will cover the general principles of labour law, special aspects of individual employment (labour) contracts, rights and duties of employers and employees, interpretation of the employment contracts, protection of the weaker party, termination of employment contracts upon resignation, death, dismissal, unfair dismissal and compensation, and other related issues. In this course, emphasis will be on the law of trade unions, and in particular on issues such as the status of membership, benefits of membership, resignation/dismissal, workplace representatives, collective bargaining, features of collective employment contracts, legal disputes, procedure for settlement of disputes including mediation, arbitration, procedure for commencement of strikes, voting (referendum), effect of strike on employment contracts, rights and obligations of the parties, lock-outs and related questions.
Criminal Procedure Law (HUK444)
Criminal Procedure Law is concerned with the investigation, prosecution and trial. In this course, the structure of Turkish Criminal Courts and the main actors participating in Criminal Procedure Law are analyzed. There are two parties; one is prosecutor, who represents the public and trial starts with prosecution. The other part is the defendant, who is accused of commiting crime. In this course, the rights and obligations of both parties are analyzed. Status of the subjects of investigation phase, the procedure governing criminal trials, procedural rules, consideration of evidence, judgement and appeal subjects are analyzed in this course. Students succeed this course will have a general view about criminal procedure.
The Law of Inheritance (HUK445)
This course consists of an introduction to the basic concepts of the law of inheritance, followed by the examination of issues such as partition of the estate, intestate and testate succession, testamentary contracts including wills and forms, conditions and revocation of wills, reserved portions, disposable portions and disinheritance.

The aim of this course is to explain main subjects related to the Law of Negotiable Instruments theoretically and practically. Within the scope of this course, international commercial contracts, international transportation of goods, resolution of international commercial disputes, foreign exchange legislation, payment methods used in international trade, bank letters of guarantee in international practice, financing techniques in international trade, Turkey-European Union relations in terms of foreign trade, customs regimes, Issues such as export and import transactions, company models related to foreign trade, foreign capital investments in Turkey, international commercial organizations, documents used in international trade will be emphasized.
Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods (HUK429)
Alternative dispute resolution method is a non-judgmental and discretionary dispute resolution method. An independent, impartial third party assists the parties in resolving their disputes. This course focuses on Arbitration, Mediation and Med-Arb.
Criminal Enforcement Law (HUK 430)
Prisons have always been problematic institutions in Turkey as well as all over the world. It is necessary to identify the problems of penitentiary institutions, to find solutions to them, and to reintegrate the convicts into the society at the end of the execution of their sentences. Indeed, by being sensitive to the problems of the people in prisons, it should not be forgotten that they are people who come out of ourselves and that one day they will return to us again. With the execution law course, it is aimed to teach subjects such as the execution of judicial fines, execution institutions, execution regime, especially prison sentences.
Law of Collection of Public Claims (HUK434)
The Law on the Collection Procedure of Public Claims regulates the follow-up and collection procedure of public receivables. The scope of the law includes public claims and creditors, protection of public claims, precautionary attachment, precautionary accrual, foreclosure of movable and immovable property and follow-up through bankruptcy.
International Criminal Court (HUK434)
The International Criminal Court, which Turkey is not a member of but imposes sanctions on, derives its founding philosophy and law from the Nuremberg War Crimes Tribunal, which tried Nazi war criminals. This course is an introductory business law class, addressing fundamental concepts of commercial enterprise law, title of merchant and related consequences, merchant assistants, commercial contracts and company law. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to define commercial enterprise, commercial transaction, title of merchant and explain related consequences, to classify merchant assistants according to their dependency, to summarize the necessary conditions for the formation, validity and performance of commercial contracts, to list the types of companies and to explain the main features of organs of a joint stock company.

LAW 116 INTRODUCTION TO LEGAL ENGLISH
The course introduces the basic concepts and commonly used terminology of Legal English. It aims to improve students’ reading, listening, comprehension and writing skills in legal contexts. The course focuses on accessible yet substantive legal texts. The fundamental structure, language patterns and standard expressions used in legal correspondence are presented. In addition, key English terminology and text types encountered in various branches of law—such as criminal law, private law, administrative law, constitutional law and international law—are examined through examples and practical exercises.
LAW 208 INTERNATIONAL JUDICIAL ORGANS AND INTERNATIONAL JUSTICE
International courts and tribunals are essential players in the understanding and development of international law. This course is designed to explain the creation and evolution of international dispute settlement mechanisms in international legal order as well as a general overview into their roles and functions.
