Istanbul Okan University Faculty of Law was established with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 6.5.2008 and numbered 2008/13663. Our Faculty, which accepted its first students in the 2008-2009 academic year after its establishment and started to teach in its building in Okan University Tuzla Campus, had its first graduates at the end of the 2011 - 2012 academic year. Our Faculty, which has brought 1562 graduates to the legal community from the date of its first graduates until today, continues its education services in order to train qualified lawyers in line with the aims and principles of its establishment.
The founding dean of our faculty, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kocak has undertaken it. In 2018, Prof. Dr. Serap Keskin Kiziroğlu took over as the dean. Assuming the position of dean in 2021, Prof. Dr. Osman Korkut Kanadoğlu still fulfills this duty.
In our faculty, various activities, fictional cases and additional courses are held in order to contribute to the academic and professional development of our students. Namely;
- Traditionally, "Academic Coversations in Law" and "Career in Law Meetings" are held every month in our faculty. Within the scope of Academic Conversations in Law, our students are provided with academic information on certain special topics in addition to what they learn in the lessons. Within the scope of Career in Law Meetings, prominent lawyers, judges, prosecutors and notaries share their experiences with our students.
- In our faculty, fictional litigation practices in which our students actively participate are carried out under the supervision of the relevant Departments. Students put the knowledge they have learned in the course into practice in our Courtroom located in our Faculty building, thus gaining a preliminary experience in all areas of the legal profession. At the same time, our students are encouraged to participate in fictional litigation competitions held between universities and academic support is given to them in this process.
- In our faculty, preparatory classes are held for the "Entrance Exam to Law Professions". It is aimed that all of our students will be successful in this exam, which is very important for their careers, with studies on the courses within the scope of this exam, which will be valid for all Law Faculty students registered as of 2019.
- All kinds of academic and scientific activities carried out by our student clubs are supported by our Faculty.
- Various activities are organized to strengthen the interaction of our students with Bar Associations. In this context, our Faculty representatives, who are in the Career and Professional Development Center by the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, can directly interact with the Union.
