Introduction
The Istanbul Okan University Faculty of Pharmacy, marking the university's 25th anniversary, commenced its educational journey in the 2024-2025 academic year, proudly standing as the university's newest faculty.
Located on the 4th and 5th floors of the Health Sciences Complex at Tuzla Campus, our faculty boasts a spacious 1790 m2 laboratory and application area. This area is equipped with five state-of-the-art hybrid vocational training laboratories suitable for both education and research, two interdisciplinary laboratories dedicated to academic research, four multi-purpose Basic Medical Sciences Laboratories, and a Clinical Application and Simulation Center. Additionally, our faculty provides a total of 974 m2 of classroom space, facilitating face-to-face, hybrid, and virtual learning experiences.
Education and Infrastructure
Our faculty offers advanced and contemporary education opportunities with its physical and technological infrastructure, which can meet the future needs of the pharmacy profession.
While our laboratories enable students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge with practical applications, they also allow them to participate in the current research of our academic staff.
It is among the priorities of our education program that our students gain experience in the professional field by experiencing real clinical environments and patient experiences one-on-one in our simulation center and university hospitals. Thanks to our hybrid and virtual education options, our students can make their learning processes more flexible and diverse.
Curriculum and Internship Opportunities
Our comprehensive five-year pharmacy program blends theory with hands-on practice and internships. Aligned with national and global standards (Turkish Pharmacy Core Education Program (CEP), WHO and FIP suggestions and forecasts), it equips students with essential professional skills. With 25% elective courses, students tailor their learning, earn micro-credits for external training, and can pursue double majors or minors.
Graduate Education and Career Opportunities
The degree earned upon graduation is equivalent to a master's degree, offering our graduates the opportunity to pursue postgraduate doctoral programs after their pharmacy education.
Through our Graduate Education Institute, we offer a range of postgraduate programs, M.Sc. degree including those focused on professional development and industry needs, as well as Ph.D. programs for academic careers
Through our university's Career Center and our faculty's extensive national and international partnerships, we open doors for students to participate in exchange programs and secure internships at leading pharmaceutical companies and clinics worldwide.
Research and Entrepreneurship Support
Through our university's Research and Project Development Directorate (ARPROGED), we offer comprehensive support to students, including guidance for TÜBİTAK and EU scholarship and project applications. Furthermore, ARPROGED empowers entrepreneurial students and colleagues by providing access to PharmaHub, our pre-incubation and incubation program, which offers physical facilities, training, mentorship, and investor connections.
Student Community and Social Development
Through our support of the student-led Okan University Pharmacy Students Community (OUPSA), we guide and assist students in their social, academic, and professional development.
Research and Publication Activities
Our internationally experienced and innovative faculty contributes to society, academia, and industry through research, publications, and books, while also developing specialized training programs and providing consultancy for the Pharma, Supplement, and cosmetics sectors
