In this pandemic period, in line with YÖK (HEC) decision, formal education was suspended at the Universites since March 16, 2020. YÖK (HEC) then announced the decision for completing the 2019-2020 Academic Year Spring Semester with online education and online exams.

I have previously announced to you that missed practical (preclinical / clinical) education will be held in the summer term when face-to-face education can be given at our Faculty. In the latest YÖK (HEC) decision, it was not clearly informed how to complete the practical (preclinical / clinical) education at the Dentistry Faculties.

As the Dentistry Deans Council (DDK) and DDK Executive Board, I am the member of this Board, we are working to solve this issue. We know the decision of some Dentistry Faculties as to give the remaining practical (preclinical / clinical) education in the next academic year and to graduate the 5th grade students without face-to-face education in the summer term, and we are discussing about this issue, as well. As DDK, we asked for an online meeting again from the President of YÖK (HEC), and we are waiting for this meeting the date of which will be cleared within this week.

As mentioned in the e-mails you have sent, we all know and understand your concerns. However, you also need to know and trust that, all academic staff of our Faculty of Dentistry are endeavoring to maintain the essential qualified education so as to carry you to an upper class, to educate and graduate you as fully equipped and competent dentists, and we are all constantly working with great determination to make and implement the necessary strategic planning in these pandemic conditions.

After the YÖK (HEC) meeting with DDK, I will share the cleared decisions with you.

Your Online Mid-Term Exam Calendar has been prepared and will be sent to you with this announcement. The dates of your Online Final Exams are also determined and hereby declared to you. Now it is time to get prepared for your exams and succeed by studying hard.

Today is the day when Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk landed in Samsun on 19 May 1919 with the Bandırma Ferry and started our War of Independence. Atatürk gifted 19 May Youth and Sports Day to Turkish youth. With this awareness, Happy 19 May, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. “19 Mayıs Atatürk’ü Anma, Gençlik ve Spor Bayramınız” kutlu olsun.

I wish you success in your exams, stay healthy.
